Sorry Guys this is a REALLY problem for me and I do think this should be advertised so others do not get trapped by this bug/overlook… The servers maybe in the UK but thats not what the tools show… I will be leaving shortly for a UK based  server…

UPDATE: (3:30pm)

Rackspace has rung me directly and explained that the problem was due to the IP’s ‘who is info’ not being updated from the purchase of the IP range. They will update the ‘Who is info’ and this will then reflex the correct country information and the server location will then show as the United Kingdom, They then thanked me for pointing out such a big error…. I would like to Thank Rackspace UK for going the extra mile and fixing this real problem, There customer support is A*….

All of these are English speaking countries so why cant I just have the same content on each of those sites ? … Duplicate content that’s why… Google says’s in this dilemma you should host everything on a .com (like a global domain) but truly .com is not global, if you host in the United States for example that .com will be targeted for the United States. What about Google Webmaster Tools I hear you say, well that’s all great but what if I want to target many English speaking countries (with GWT’s you can only target one country) also don’t forget the are other search engines such as Yahoo and Bing who don’t have Geo-Targeting (at the point of writing this article).

I really think in the growing worlds web market that this is a issue that all search engine providers should be working on, So sort of standard global meta for example (eg <meta name=”geotarget” content=”uk, usa, nz, au, ca” />) something simple like this would be a god send to many web developers / companies…

The next thing that you want to do is write everyday. Updating your blog everyday is the best way to get it picked up by the search engines. Search engines like Google and Yahoo index blogs and websites based on their content. If you are updating your blog everyday and are putting more and more original content up, your blog is going to rank high in the search engines.

So you have a blog that has a ton of content and a great niche, but you’re still not seeing any traffic? This is where people get stuck. It’s the all too common tale of somebody with a great product, but no knowledge of how to sell it. This is where one-way linking comes in. As you researched your niche, you probably went though a bunch of discussion forums. Discussion forums are great because they always rank high in the Google and Yahoo rankings. Join two discussion forums a day and post comments on your topic. They should allow you to link to your blog through your profile. This way when somebody researches your niche, they will see your post and click on your blog.

Article marketing is another way of getting the word out about your blog. Take a couple of the posts that you have published on your blog and re-write them. Now you can submit them to various article directories on the Internet like Ezine and Articlebase. These websites also rank very high in the Google rankings. Just like in the discussion forums, you should be able to post links to your blog from your profile page.

Viral marketing is another way to get an extreme amount of traffic to your website. Sites like Metacafe and Youtube have brought thousands of people’s blogs onto the map. If you enjoy talking about your niche or doing short how-to videos, film a couple of videos and include a link to your blog in the information bracket.
Another great way to build readership to your blog is by giving away free items. You don’t have to have a raffle for a new TV or anything, but you can post downloadable articles, ebooks or software to your blog. This is great because people are always looking to get something for free. When one person gets a free ebook, they are extremely likely to send the link to other people, thus giving you more traffic.

Staring a blog is not an easy task. If you’re looking for something that you can update a couple of times a month and share with friends, then you don’t really need to worry about traffic. But if you’re looking to make some extra money or even a full time income, you are going to need a very high volume of traffic and a decent ranking in Google and other search engines. Blogging is a great way to make additional money online. The use of viral and article marketing is a proven way to bring you the traffic you need. Posting on discussion forums related to your niche is also a great way to get the word out about your blog. Stay away from ebooks and online sites that will try to sell you blogging tips. Most of the materials you need can be found through Youtube videos, online articles or just a little digging.

As many of you may be aware I have been involved in the affiliate marketing on and off part-time since 2003 but recently at the beginning of this year took it up full-time alongside my SEO and Blogging business. I have often felt alone and isolated in this line of work and often wondered how others in my industry combat this and get new ideas and interact with like-minded people, well I found it the A4U Events…

I have learnt so much over the last week and met so many interesting and like-minded people including some local ones from Swansea Jason Dale and Jude Dale (Loquax) who made me feel like part of the crowd and are really friendly and genuine people.

On the day of arrival I found that the Excel was currently having building work and my Hotel the Ramada that was supposed to be adjacent was now a short train stop away because of this building work which wasn’t a great start as it costs me every time I wanted to get back and forward to the Expo from my hotel… After settling in on the Monday when I arrived I went over to the pre-event party where food and drink was provided, this was an informal event giving you the opportunity to network and chill out before the event. I met a great deal of people I had been speaking to online via twitter at that event and learnt some great tips and techniques from some old pro’s… I didn’t stay out too late that night as I wanted a fresh head and early start the next day to attend one of the first sessions. The sessions I chose on day one and two were primarily SEO and link building sessions. I learnt a great deal from Google ( who flew over from Mountain View ) and also managed to have a one-to-one session with Google themselves over a few new projects I’ve got in the pipeline. The most important lesson and most obvious is not a cheat Google or any of the other major search engines, provide your users with valuable content and a good experience and you will do well in search engines simple as that.

During day one and two of the Expo food and drink were provided, day one we had a beautiful chilli con carne and tortilla chips along with a chocolate bar or fruit of our choice also a selection of coffee water and soft drinks were available during the day. Day two we had a box of pizza per person along with a chocolate bar or fruit which was just delicious.

On Expo day one there was a networking party at the O2 dome again with drinks provided and a private area. This was a very nice venue but many people went to it to network and were unable to do to due to the DJs loud music which many people complained about and then voted with their feet ( this was the only not so good part of the event )… but I do have to say that I think the oxygen bar prevented my hangover the next day

Day two of the Expo I went to a select few sessions again concentrating on SEO and also Internet start-ups which included a representative from the new Internet start-up Spotify. I learnt an awful lot and after the sessions I was raring to get in front of a computer and put some of my new knowledge into action. That evening was the after party where everyone got to chill out and discuss with their new friends about what they’ve learnt over the Expo, food and drink again was provided I had a lovely curry and a few pints of beer it was a great end to a great show.

I will be definitely attending more A4U events in the future and suggest to anybody in the Internet marketing industry but this is some thing you should be attending.

In this blog I am going to list 60 ways of making money online, some of the ways are quite well-known and some of the other ways are unique also giving you the room to twist the idea and making your own.
The key here is to remember that you are providing a service to the Internet reader/surfer and if you have that in your mind throughout the development of any one of these 60 ways of making money online you will be on the path to success. (Very American Blog sounding

Some of these ideas can generate money quite quickly others will take time to develop, I suggest starting on only one or two of these ideas at a time preferably one if you’re a beginner to this. None of these ideas are going to work without effort on your part (there’s no such thing as free money in this world, you do have to work for it but you don’t have to work your life away).

1. Associated Content - Associated Content is a company based in USA that pays for quality and unique content, if you have a hobby a interest or knowledge a particular field then why not it sell your articles to Associated Content they pay around $8.00 per quality article doesn’t have to be a massively long article (at least 400 words) but you have to know what you’re talking about and provide unique quality content to be paid. Also what’s great about this programme you get $1.50 per 1000 page views so over time you can build up the automated income stream.

2. Small Business Franchise – You don’t have to start from scratch you could purchase a franchise and have the support and knowledge given to you by the franchise seller. There are many small franchise-selling directories on the Internet listing a range of online franchise opportunities ranging from very little to larger investments. This is a great way of setting up if you require support or have very little technical knowledge.

3. Creating a Niche website – Many people make a full-time income creating niche websites. If you find a good niche it can easily make you anywhere from one dollar to as much as $50 a day, in most cases you work out between $1 – $4 per day, it doesn’t sound much but many people who make a living this way set up hundreds of these sites making one dollar per day from each (Do the Maths). So what’s on the niche website and make the money, while the most popular way is using a script such as PHPBay which generates eBay feeds for the particular niche you’re advertising. eBay has one of the best affiliate marketing networks on the Internet called EPN “eBay Partner Network” but this network is kind of exclusive these days and it will take a few attempts on your part to join it. But don’t despair writing a quality niche blog with Adsense adverts can also bring in a nice amount per day.

4. Domain Real Estate – A good dot com may be difficult to find now. But there are a lot of gTLDs and ccTLDs from the .info to .eu to .tv to .co.in and they all present opportunities being discussed in several good forums. Put your thinking hat on, buy a famous word domain for a few dollars and put it up on the domain selling sites.

5. Domain Misspellings – Domain misspelling is quite common why not profit from it and by a domain similar to a well-known website. Once you open at the main you can put affiliate links onto the website redirecting them to what they’re looking for making a profit along the way and benefiting the customer.

6. Domain Parking – Some people guess a URL if they want a particular service such as electrician for a example typing in electrician.com you can then redirect them using affiliate links or paid advertising to a electrician’s or other services website.

7. Blogging – Do you know about a subject, do you have a hobby, and do you have something to offer the reader? Well if you do blogging is a full-time living that some people there are some brilliant resources on the Internet such as ProBlogger.com that can provide you with tips on how to make money from your blog. The most common way is running Google Adsense alongside your content.

8. Auto-Blogging – Auto Blogging has become very popular over the last few months. Let’s get one thing straight auto blogging is not a blog about cars, it’s a automated blog that pulls articles from a selection of sources using a selection of technologies the most popular is RSS. There are many websites that provide free RSS feeds for your automated blog that are legal but as a result many people use these sites and will have the same articles as you. It can’t look like a ransom demand. Be reasonable and read the small print of the UDRP.

11. Gumtree and Craigslist Resell – another quite successful way of making money online is using GumeTree or Craiglist and searching these directories for popular items selling on eBay or any other auction site at the moment such as “iPhone” or a “xBox” and buying them from people locally picking them up and then reselling them on eBay for a profit. In most cases people selling items on directories or even newspaper directories will take on offer below the asking price and this is where you will make a profit by reselling them online reaching a wider market.

12. Starting a local EBay selling Service – This is a variation of the above idea, advertising locally a selling online service for people who don’t have a computer or may be the knowledge/skills of selling online. You would charge a percentage of the total for your services making a profit.

13. Domains for Sale Directory – Start a directory to list domains for sale. That’s what people like SEDO do. You can get money just for allowing domains to be listed in your directory.

14. Purchasing AutoPilot Websites - Many websites runs on “auto-pilot”. A common price these sell for in is 12-24 months worth of net earnings (crazy price, but it is true). Provided you don’t mess the website up you can recover your capital in as little as 12 months and then sell the site to recover your capital again. Doubling your capital every year creating a 100% return.

15. Working from home for local company – Do you have a skill that you can work from home with? You may have programming knowledge, or web design knowledge or be a graphic designer. These skills do not require you to go to the office you can do them at home. With today’s technologies such as broadband and voice over IP it gives that employers opportunity to lower overheads and have their staff working from home. There are many Job Boards out there that advertise work from home opportunities just make sure you pick locally so you can visit the company and make sure it’s a kosher opportunity there are so many scams out there be careful.

16. Virtual Assistant – Over the last few years this has become increasingly popular, all you really need to do this as a living are good computer typing skills. You also need a good computer set up with good broadband links and telephone/voice over IP set up. The everyday tasks involved in being a virtual assistant can vary from basic typing to answering calls and even shopping.

17. Web design - This must be one of the oldest ways of making money online it works both on a online capacity and offline using local businesses. They can be a lot of competition online especially with some countries being able to charge very little a large website. I have had success in the past with dealing with local companies and people always like to deal with someone face-to-face and the audience you’re aiming at locally most properly have never heard of website like elance.com.

18. Outsourced Web Design – this one is similar to above but the work is outsourced to other people. What you do is get work from local businesses and outsource of the timely Web development to people on elancer.com or other freelance website some countries charge pennies compared to what you will charge locally making you a profit and giving you the time to go out there and get more business to outsource that to.

19. Photo Restoration – I tried this a few years ago with great success if you have good photo shop skills this can be a tidy income stream. 27. Affiliate Link Posting – There are many websites and blogs out there discussing or the products and reviewing them allowing visitors to post their ideas and thoughts on the subject. As long as you have something valuable to contribute towards the conversation you can drop relevant affiliate links to the product or service in your post. If you do this smartly and use a domain cloak you have the potential here to make a good automated income stream.

28. Amazon Associate Store – The biggest and most respected online retailer Amazon as a great and long-lived affiliate program. You can use API’s provided Amazon to create your own specialist store using Amazons large selection of stock. There are programmes/scripts out there such as “Associate O Matic” that will build a website within seconds looking like any other e-commerce website but full of Amazon stock and affiliate links. People/Sufers will not realise it’s a Amazon affiliate site until checkout. Creative Thinking – Do something creative, easier said than done but some of the most successful people on the Internet and self-made millionaire thought this way and it has paid off for them, For example the million-dollar home page a young student who sold 1 million pixels at a dollar each, this was something unique and wacky and most probably would not work again but it made him a millionaire. 30. Social Networking Link Posting – Join the MySpace/Facebook/Bebo bandwagon, build up a lot of “friends” and bulletin advertise the hell out of them. 32. SEO Professional Link Monkey – Webmasters want people to link to their websites. It helps them rank higher with search engines. But they don’t have the time to contact other Webmasters. You do that for them and get paid per link. If you’re smart you’ll find shortcuts and charge people a lot of money for identifying and approaching possible link “partners”.

33. SEO Professional Directory Submission – Start a directory submission service. There are lots of directories around like the ODP. Many take free submissions but you have to do these by hand. Webmasters have to register, wait for a reply, jump through other hoops etc. They’d rather outsource it to someone who can do it faster and has the time.

I really think in today’s day and age everyone I know  just works like freaks, life is too short to be somebody else’s slave, my mum died a few years back she was very young and it made me think we do not have much time on this planet and I want to enjoy every minute of it. Unfortunately to live life to some degree you need an income, but why should you work your life away when the skills you have and the knowledge you have can be put to good use and make you money in half the time it would working not so smartly. What I mean by smartly is to know your limitations, set yourself a timescale and goal and keep to it, and don’t be afraid to pass work on to the professionals. What you should ask yourself is what is your time worth?

You don’t have to be a computer techy to works smartly you just have to set your goals and worked to them in the fastest and most productive way. Tim the author points out things that can make you less productive such as Email he answers it once maybe twice a day freeing up his time to be more productive in other ways. The title of the book I think is a bit misleading I think it would be very hard and take a long time to ever reach a four hour work week, but the principle of a book to enjoy life and to create more time for yourself is solid and can be done if you just think more smartly.

I have taken on a lot of Tim’s ideas and really have changed the way I view work set yourself small goals, I need to earn so much this month to do this. Work on your salary on a month to month basis he explains, stop thinking of annual salaries just enjoy life and earn money as you need it. Tim’s Teaching may not suit all but the underlying principle of the book I think it’s brilliant for people who want to improve their lifestyle and work around their life and not worked their lifes away.

The book is a good read a lot of things in it are common sense, but it makes you think and that’s what I think the goal of the book is, to make you think about your life and how to improve it for the better. Remember don’t live to work, work to live.

Many people fail at blogging because they have no or very little knowledge on the subject they are talking about, knowing your subject is key can help a great deal when you know what you’re talking about therefore you’re providing useful content to your reader. It makes it so much easier picking a subject that you’re passionate about and what you have knowledge about, I would have no joy talking about china dolls for example I have no interest in it and nothing to provide the reader with. If you’re going to blog as a full-time job it really should be about something that you’re passionate about otherwise the enjoyment will not be there and the drive that needs to succeed in this industry will not be there, so many blogs fail because of this.

So is the market to saturated for another blog? Well possibly, it really depends on what you pick as your subject. You really need to pick a niche to be successful in this game, I’m not saying that if your subject is already blogged about that you have no chance in success, because if you know more about the subject or can provide better  and higher quality content with good SEO techniques I would say you have a good chance to profit within time, it may take longer to build a name for yourself and get your content ranked correctly but it can be done.

Is there a long-term future in blogging? Well the Internet changes every day, new technologies and ideas are born, but if you use these news technologies and keep on top of all these new changes you can use them to your advantage, a popular example recently is Twitter a mini blogging service keeping your followers  updated by mini feeds (for example you could use this service to tell your followers when a new post is available to read on your blog). Another worry for bloggers is if their revenue stream dries up, have you ever heard of the saying “don’t put all your eggs in one basket” well that is also true in blogging don’t just have Google Adsense revenue have a few income streams, they are out there believe me.

Should I quit my job today and just concentrate on blogging? No no no, please don’t do that… As I said earlier most people fail at blogging, test the water tried talking about a few interests and see how many hits you get, start small as a hobby build up your article base and advertise and monitor your traffic.  You will know when it’s time to quit your job and concentrate on blogging when you’re making a side income that you are happy with, it will take time and you may not get their better least the now you have the relevant safety of a job whilst you experiment.
